De Villiers said on his YouTube channel, “I just want to remind you guys that this is the kind of player you want to celebrate. Let him balance life at the end of his career. Just celebrate him. He’s changed the game forever. He deserves a little ‘thank you’ and hopefully you play for another five years, if you don’t we’re with you.”

“In my opinion the 2027 World Cup will be Virat Kohli’s final chapter in international cricket.” -AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers believes that the 2027 Cricket World Cup will be the last international assignment for Virat Kohli in India colours. However, he is hopeful that Kohli will continue playing in the IPL for years even after his retirement from international cricket.

AB de Villiers said, “In my opinion, the 2027 World Cup will be the last happiness for him at the end of his career.”

“The IPL is a different story. We can see them going for three or four or maybe even five years. It doesn’t take away a lot from you, even though it is a very intense tournament. You can prepare for those two to three months, but the World Cup is a four-year cycle,” the former South African player said.

“There’s a really big build up and it takes away a lot from the body and the system and the space you try to find yourself in, family time. We’ve heard Virat speak often about how important it is to him,” ABD said on Kohli prioritizing family life over anything else.

AB de Villiers also highlighted the impact of experienced cricketers like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on the team and the inspiration they give to their younger generation.

“He (Virat) plays a big role in that team from a mental aspect. The kind of confidence the youngsters get from his presence, you can’t put any number on it. It’s irreplaceable.”

De Villiers concluded, “The kind of impact they (Virat and Rohit Sharma) have on the players around them and the confidence that other players take from them is absolutely huge. Never forget that even if they don’t perform sometimes, they have a huge impact.”
