In Last ODI of India’s Australia tour 2025 At the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the Men in Blue produced a brilliant performance to defeat the hosts by nine wickets.

The day belonged to India’s opening and middle-order stars, with an impressive bowling effort limiting the Australian lineup.

Australia innings: Matt Renshaw fights for the home team

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Australia struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Indian attack. A solid base was established by the top order, but consistent wicket-taking prevented any significant increase in the scoring rate.

The backbone of the Australian innings was a half-century from middle-order batsman Matt Renshaw, who scored 56 runs off 58 balls. Mitchell Marsh (41) and Matthew Short (30) also contributed, but the team ultimately collapsed and were bowled out for a modest score of 236 runs in 46.4 overs.

The star of the ball for India was young fast bowler Harshit Rana, who bowled brilliantly and took four wickets for just 39 runs in 8.4 overs. They were well supported by the spin duo of Washington Sundar (2/44) and Axar Patel (1/18), who put on pressure in the middle overs.

India’s innings: The Rohit and Kohli show

Chasing 237 to win, the Indian target was extremely aggressive, brutal and remarkably fast. The tone was set by captain Rohit Sharma, who displayed his old form and scored a brilliant century.

Rohit’s 121 runs were scored in just 125 balls, which included 13 fours and 3 skyscraper sixes. After Shubman Gill was out for 24 (the only wicket to fall was Josh Hazlewood), Virat Kohli Came to form a partnership with his captain and both crushed Australia’s hopes. Kohli played the role of an ideal anchor by dominating the attack and scoring unbeaten 74 runs off 81 balls.

Their mammoth partnership ensured that India reached the target with ease, completing the chase in just 38.3 overs (237/1) and securing a comprehensive win by 9 wickets. Australian bowlers, including Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa, struggled to find success, highlighting the quality of India’s batting performance.
