Team India will be eyeing a much-needed win in the ongoing third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Shubman Gill’s captaincy reign has started with a series defeat. The young batsman has recently been made the ODI captain in place of Rohit Sharma, but till now he has not been able to justify this decision. Under his captaincy, India lost badly in the first two ODIs of the three-match series. Gill also failed to lead from the front in either match and scored 10 and 9.

India’s batsmen and bowlers failed to impress in both matches and Australia won the series. The series has already been decided, so Team India will be hoping to win the third match to avoid an embarrassing elimination.
Nitish Kumar Reddy out of third ODI
Team India will field without Nitish Kumar Reddy in the third ODI. The all-rounder made his ODI debut in the first match of the series and played an important inning of 19* runs including two sixes. In the second match, he was out for just 8 runs.
While Nitish Kumar Reddy wanted to end the series on a good note, his hopes were dashed due to an unfortunate injury. He was ruled out of the last match of the series due to a quadricep injury.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy suffered a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI medical team is monitoring him on a daily basis.” BCCI said in a statement.
