A confusing scene unfolded in Adelaide, when a Team India player was seen wearing the Dhruv Jurel jersey. Is the Indian wicketkeeper debuting as a substitute? However, it was eventually revealed that it was captain Shubman Gill who wore Jurel’s sweater in Adelaide.
Shubman Gill-led India have started their World Cup preparations with a series against defending World Cup champions Australia. Although India is currently no. Despite being ranked No. 1 in the ODI rankings, they have struggled to overtake the Australian team in ICC events.
While the Australian team has slipped to third place in the ICC men’s ODI rankings, they still remain one of the most dominant teams in the one-day format. Australia dominated India in the first ODI in Perth and head into Adelaide with hopes of clinching the series.
Shubman Gill wore Dhruv Jurel’s jersey in Adelaide
The responsibility of ODI captaincy has been handed over to Shubman Gill from Rohit Sharma and he has started his campaign from the Australian tour. Gill also held the unwanted record of starting all three formats with a defeat as captain of the team.
As the Indian team took the field in Adelaide, Shubman Gill was seen wearing the sweater of Indian wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, who is yet to make his Indian cricket debut in the 50-over format.
Captain Shubman Gill might have forgotten to bring his kit or might be wearing Jurel’s kit for some other reason, but these scenes have created a doubt in the minds of the Indian audience as if KL Rahul has suddenly been replaced by Jurel like Pant in England.

Indian lower order looks to take India past 250 in Adelaide
Indian top-order talent Rohit Sharma may be one of the best among Indian batsmen, but the middle order has supported him very well. Shreyas Iyer’s inning of 61 runs came at the crucial juncture of the game and later Axar Patel scored 44 runs to take India to the score of 200.
Indian lower order batsmen, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh played a more important role with the bat and scored 37 crucial runs for the 9th wicket. Together, both of them not only helped India complete their innings but also took them beyond the score of 260.
The Australian captain was sent back into the powerplay; Another positive match for India in Adelaide
After the Indian batsmen set a target of 265 runs and Harshit Rana ultimately performed well with the bat, the bowlers had a respectable score to defend. Australian captain Mitchell Marsh, the in form batsman for the Australian team, was out for just 11 runs off the bowling of Arshdeep Singh as he attempted to loft the track up the infield.
This wicket gave a big breakthrough to the Indians and further boosted their confidence with the wicket of Travis Head, which has been a nightmare for the Men in Blue since the 2023 ICC World Cup. Harshit Rana gave the second blow to India by dismissing Travis Head.
