Indian women’s national cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was furious after getting into an altercation with star batsman Harleen Deol on Sunday, October 12.
The 13th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 between Harmanpreet Kaur-led India women’s national cricket team and Alyssa Healy-led Australia women’s national cricket team is currently going on at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.
Harmanpreet Kaur fiercely targets Harleen Deol
Batting first, India scored a mammoth 330 runs in the innings but Australia bowled it out in just 48.5 overs as Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Raval played brilliant innings while opening the innings.
During India’s innings, when India were trying to take their innings to a huge score, captain Harmanpreet Kaur got angry at star batsman Harleen Deol after a foul.
All this happened in the 35th over of the innings, which was bowled by Megan Scutt. On the fourth ball of the over, Harmanpreet Kaur made a mistake in cutting in the cover area and took a single.
However, Harleen sent her captain back when she was in the middle of the pitch and Harmanpreet had to dive to get inside the crease. Due to this, Harmanpreet became very angry and she threw the morsel from her mouth at her partner.
Then, on the fifth ball of the over, Harmanpreet hit a four off Shutt and started cursing Deol for the mix-up on the previous ball. Things didn’t end there, after hitting a four on the last ball, he calmly patted Harleen Deol on the shoulder after earlier shouting at her.

Earlier in the match, Alyssa Healy won the toss and Australia decided to bowl first. Speaking at the toss, he said that they are excited to face a quality Indian team in front of the Vizag crowd. He said:
“We’re going to bowl. There was dew yesterday evening during training. Hopefully there can be a slide on the bat. Just one change. Molineux is back and Wareham missed. It’s good to have Soph back. At times during a World Cup, you just need to do what needs to be done and get the win. But when you come up against a really good opponent like India, you need to put everything together. I am back in Vizag for the first time since 2011. There should be a very good atmosphere. Got a little bit of Australian support. The girls are excited about it.”
Meanwhile, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur stressed on coming back stronger when the conditions are adverse and termed the presence of a large number of spectators as a big boost for the home team. He said:
“The pitch is looking better than the last game. Same XI. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It’s about how you bounce back. We were in the game for 95 overs, there were a lot of positives for us. They have always been important to us. Always good, encouraging the team day and night. The biggest part of our lives is that we are getting this support.”
