Indian cricket team fans are furious after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s shocking run out in the ongoing second and final Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and they are blaming captain Shubman Gill for the unfortunate outing.
Fans are blaming Shubman Gill for depriving Yashasvi Jaiswal of his double century against West Indies due to his poor communication and hesitation in the middle. The heartbreaking incident happened in the first over of the third day of the ongoing Delhi Test.
How did Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dream innings end against West Indies in the Delhi Test?
Yashasvi Jaiswal confidently hits a full delivery from Jaden Seales straight to mid-off. Seeing an opportunity for a quick single, the Indian opener opened immediately, trusting his partner to respond. But Gill standing at the non-striker end did not move. The misunderstanding proved costly within a few seconds.

By the time Yashasvi Jaiswal realized that Gill was not coming, he tried to turn back, but it was too late. Tegenarin Chanderpaul collected the ball quickly and threw it sharply towards the wicketkeeper’s end. Tevin Imlach ran in, caught the throw cleanly and broke the stumps while Jaiswal was still away from the crease.
Fans heavily criticized Shubman Gill after Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out on 175 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal stood in disbelief before walking back. After playing a brilliant inning of 175 runs with the help of 22 fours in the ongoing second and final Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the young opener had to leave the field in complete disappointment.
Fans immediately took to social media to express their disappointment and blamed Gill for not responding to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s call. Many felt that the mix-up could have been avoided with better communication, describing Gill as a selfish player. However, some fans are defending Gill.
Here’s how fans reacted to the misunderstanding between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal:
Shubhman Gill is a selfish player… Jaiswal’s dismissal could have been avoided today.
It has been said for some time that despite his talent, he is not fit to be the captain.
Tilak Verma or Jasprit Bumrah should be made captain for the future. Maybe even successful.– India (@2673India) 11 October 2025
Just like Gill had run out Rohit Sharma in the Ind v Afg T20 series 2024. If a striker asks for a run, the non-striker has to run because it is the striker who is in danger, not the non-striker.

Very curious to see him score big today Not going to debate whether the run was there or not, there was lack of communication. Gill didn’t even say ‘no’ properly, he looked confused himself. But since he is the captain and the prince no one will point a finger at him.

MDCD insecure Gill even tried to challenge YJB, what a selfish clown
– Anshu Chaudhary (@JuniorChaudhary04) 11 October 2025
Obviously Gill’s mistake was that he was looking at the ball instead of running and with Jaiswal covering half the pitch and the throw definitely coming to Jaiswal’s end, Gill was looking to run him out before he could score a big score.

#shubhmangil Achieved the target of dismissing his first opponent. Yashasvi placed Industries in a commanding position.
This was Yashasvi’s call for runs. I remember Kohli now, he used to use this technique sometimes.
I am sure Shubman Gill is feeling the heat from Yashasvi.– Pandya Jai (@jaypandya1) 11 October 2025
Yes, the gate was in the filter’s hand and he ran away… anything… there is a level of hatred too… Gill was saying no no… he was watching the match… even if Gill had run, Jaiswal would not have reached.

Ma’am, there was no run, Gill could not sacrifice his wicket.
– Drx.Lokesh Sharma (@GamblerSuper) 11 October 2025
Hey, how did you see Gill’s fault?

Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting with full strength at 175 runs – but #shubhmangil did it again!
like he ran out #RohitSharma On January 11, 2024, his insecurity cost another teammate dearly.

This is not the first time that I have seen Shubman Gill not trusting his partner at the striker end and it usually ends with his partner being run out. She needs to trust her partner’s calls a little more. https://t.co/KXRMfKuSzp

Cricketers should not sailfish like Shubman Gill.
Yashasvi got plastic run out for not scoring his double century.#Selfish#gil_selfish#INDvsWI #YashSweejayYaswal #शुभमंगिल #ViratKohli– Raj Chaudhary (@Rajc7770) 11 October 2025
You can clearly see that Gill doesn’t want Jaiswal to score 200, this is pure jealousy from Golly #YashSweejayYaswal #jaiswal #subhmanagil #testcricket #INDvsWIpic.twitter.com/4MN1qSvQF2

I was eagerly waiting for Jaiswal’s double century, but clearly Run Hi Tha Nahi Waah Pe, now there will be unnecessary hatred for Gill 🙁 pic.twitter.com/ygF6LwpOxu

Now people of Jaiswal fan club will come and blame Gill but it was Jaiswal himself who was at fault. No runs were scored.
