Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has been left out of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy opening game against Jammu and Kashmir, starting on October 15.

The Mumbai team had already announced that experienced all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who has been consistently performing well for the Mumbai team, will be made the captain of the Ranji Trophy team. This decision was taken in line with Ajinkya Rahane’s resignation from the post.

Meanwhile, captain Suryakumar Yadav is set to captain the Indian national cricket team in the shortest format of the game. Their next assignment will be in the Australia white-ball tour, which consists of 5 T20I matches starting on October 29.

Suryakumar Yadav out, Shardul Thakur becomes Mumbai captain

Mumbai cricket team will start its Ranji Trophy 2025 campaign against Jammu and Kashmir at the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar. Therefore, they have announced the team for the first match and Suryakumar Yadav has not been included in it.

The Mumbai Cricket Association’s senior selection committee, comprising Mr. Sanjay Patil (President), Mr. Ravi Thacker, Mr. Jitendra Thackeray, Mr. Vikrant Yeligetti and Mr. Deepak Jadhav, has selected both experienced and young players to represent Mumbai in the inaugural match of the Ranji Trophy.
