Former Pakistan all -rounder Shahid Afridi slammed the umpires after Fakhar Zaman’s controversial dismissal in the Super Four Asia Cup 2025 match against India. The pre-Pakistan captain questioned the integrity of the third umpire and pulled the Indian Premier League (IPL) into a dismissal dispute.
India once again defeated Pakistan in a recent match at Dubai International Stadium. Men won six wickets in Blue. However, the match was seen by Fakhar Zaman’s controversial dismissal, the former Pakistan players claimed that it should not have been excluded.

Fakhar Zaman was promoted to open an innings against India. He started his innings by hitting three borders in eight delivery. However, his knock ended at 15 when he made a delivery behind Hardik Pandya to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson.
The on-field umpire decided to the TV umpire after the initially refused to walk. Sri Lankan third umpire Ruchira Paliaguruga reviewed several angles and said that Samson had made his fingers under the ball while taking the catch. The third umpire ruled Fakhar.
Fakhar went back shaking his head, while Pakistan’s coach Mike Hessen also saw angry. In particular, it was a difficult decision, but the third umpire followed the rules.

Speaking on the Pakistani local TV channel, Shahid Afridi said that the umpire has to “umpire in the IPL” about Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal.
โUnonephone IPL I have to umpir [He has to umpire in the IPL too]”Afridi said with a smile, analyzing Pakistan’s defeat on Sama TV.
Another east-Pakistan player, Mohammad Yusuf, criticized Afridi, saying that the match official did not review sufficient angles before giving Fakhar out.
Yusuf said, “He did not even investigate several angles. Fakhar hit three fours and was easily working with Bumrah in the first over. His wicket was important for India.”

Earlier, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar called the decision of the third umpire to “wrong” to Fakhar. He said that Fakhar could change the match in favor of Pakistan.
“Fakhar was not out. With the available 26 cameras, the third umpire would have examined only two angles? If Fakhar had stopped, the match could have been,” he said.
Pakistan’s team manager, Naved Akram Cheema, allegedly sent an email to the match referee and questioned the decision to exclude the umpires to Zaman.
According to Sama TV, Pakistan management argued that the TV umpire did not review all available angles and this evidence was not “clear and decisive” to justify the dismissal.
He complained that the call from the umpire took favor to the fielding side despite showing some uncertainty. Pakistan expressed dissatisfaction with dealing with the decision.
