The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is fully prepared to get a new President, as Roger Binny has been vacant since the age limit rules have been vacant since Roger Binny left the post. Since the resignation of Roger Binny, the vice-captain, Rajiv Shukla, has been serving as the interim president of BCCI.

In the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday, 21 September, the India-Pakistan Super Four four conflict, Rajiv Shukla confirmed that former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas will take over as the next head of the world’s richest cricket board.

After which, Shukla revealed that Mithun Manas has been elected as the new BCCI President. Additionally, Arun Dhumal will continue as the chairman of the IPL Governing Council.

Rajeev Shukla was told by News18: “A new body is being created for the next term. Mithun Manhas is a former player, and it was decided to make him President. Arun Dhumal is the president of the IPL Governing Council, and he will continue in that position.”

Rajiv Shukla to continue as Vice President

It is being said that the current BCCI Secretary, Devjit Saikia is ready to continue in his role, while Shukla will remain the vice president. Treasurer Prabatej Bhatia is likely to step into a joint-secret role in place of Rohan Desai of Goa on the board.

Jaydev Shah is expected to attend the BCCI Apex Council, replacing Khairul Jamal Mazumdar, who is likely to go to the IPL Governing Council.

Who is Gemini Manahas?

Mithun Manhas represented Delhi and captained the side during his long domestic career from 1997–98 to 2016-17. He played 157 first -class matches, 130 List A Games, and 91 T20, scored 9,714 runs, 4,126 runs and 1,170 runs respectively.

Manhas also has an impressive IPL career. He played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capital), now-Doshaut Pune Warriors India and Chennai Super Kings. He has 514 runs in 55 matches in IPL at a strike rate of 109.36 in IPL.

Currently, Manhas is part of a BCCI-appointed sub-committee, which oversees the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. He has also worked as a coach for several teams including Bangladesh U19 men’s team, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans.

BCCI to announce Test Squad from September 23-24 for West Indies series

On the other hand, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia revealed that the India team will be announced in the next few days for the upcoming two -match home test series against the West Indies. The Test series will be closed on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with a second and final test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 10 October.

Devjit Saik told reporters at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, as quoted by The Times of India: “The selection for the Indian test team for the upcoming test series against the West Indies will be selected on 23 or 24 September … the selection meeting will be online.”
