Team India’s vice-captain Shubman Gill gave a glimpse to fans in his off-field personality during a light-high rapid-fire chat shared by Sony Sports Network on X. When asked which team he wanted to bat for the rest of his life, Gill surprised many people after seeing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Shubman Gill returned to India’s T20I side during the Asia Cup 2025 opener against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on Wednesday, September 10. The 26 -year -old scored an unbeaten 20 off just nine balls with just nine balls, as India chased a slight 58 -run target to secure a nine -wicket win with 93 balls.

On Friday, September 12, Sony Sports shared a video on Instagram in which Shubman Gill was prepared for the ongoing Asia Cup. The vice-captain of India revealed that it carries nine bats for the tournament to be ready for any situation.

During a rapid-fire round, Gill was also asked which team partner would like to bat for the rest of his life. Giving the name of Abhishek Sharma, he said that this would be the easiest option from the current squad.
“Let’s tell this current team that it will be easy. Abhishek,” Gill said.

When asked which skill he wanted to borrow from another player, Shubman Gill chose AB de Villiers’ scoop shot. De Villiers is known for his ability to play shots around the ground.

Gill will be seen in action the next time, when the men in Blue came in Pakistan, led by Salman Ali Aga, on Sunday, 14 September in their second Asia Cup 2025 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In particular, both teams won their opening matches of the eight-team tournament.
