Kaif said that the team had three real all-rounders during India’s T20 World Cup win under Rohit Sharma. He said that the three all-rounders added depth in batting. The former batsman believes that Sundar’s absence can affect the balance and flexibility of the team.

Washington Sundar T20i record for Team India
India’s T20 World Cup winning side benefited from being three real all-rounders. Exer Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya gave depth in both batting and bowling. In Blue, men won the tournament unbeaten.
However, Gambhir’s team has only two main all-rounders, Hardik and Exer, for the Asia Cup 2025. Washington Sundar has not been included in the team for the upcoming tournament.
Sundar has represented India in 54 T20s. He has scored an average of 13.79 with a strike rate of 121.39, including a half -century.
The off-spinner has taken an average of 48 wickets of 23.5 on an average and an economy of 6.94. Sundar last played a T20I match against England in January 2025.

The Asia Cup will be held in 2025 UAE. Blue men are placed in Group A along with Pakistan, UAE and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong. The tournament will follow the T20 format in preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Suryakumar Yadav’s side will stop his campaign against UAE on 10 September. They will face Pakistan on 14 September and conclude the group stage with a confrontation against Oman on 19 September. The Super 4 stage is scheduled to begin on September 20, the final scheduled for September 28.
Men in Blue were originally scheduled to host a white ball chain against Bangladesh in August 2025, but the tour has been postponed by September 2026.
