The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to hold its annual general meeting (AGM) at its headquarters in Mumbai on 28 September. During the upcoming meeting, elections will be held for several major positions within the board, including the President, which has been left vacant for the last few months.

Roger Binny stepped as the chairman of the BCCI, as the office needs the office carrier to retire when the board reached 70. He succeeded Sourav Ganguly in 2019. Binny’s exit opens the way for a high-profile new appointment, while Vice President Rajiv Shukla is currently working as an interim president.

According to the latest reports, the Control Board for Cricket in India is set to hold its 94th annual general meeting at its Mumbai headquarters on September 28, 2025 at 11:30 am. The primary focus of the meeting will be the election of key office-vehicles.

According to BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia, elections will be held for the posts of President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer. Representatives of the Apex Council will also be selected from both the general body and the Indian Cricketers Association.

The AGM is considered an important event in the board’s calendar, with the election for all major positions to finalize the leadership structure and ensure the smooth functioning of the BCCI in the coming tenure.

BCCI AGM of Office-Bearers, Form Apex Council to choose

The upcoming AGM of BCCI will appoint new office-bearrs to manage Indian cricket for the next three years under the current Lodha Committee-Obminated Constitution, until the proposed sports bill is implemented.

The meeting will establish the apex council, which will include representatives of both the general bodies and the Players Association. Governance structures for IPL and Women’s Premier League will also be finalized.

Two IPL Governing Council members, a representative of the players’s body, and the Women’s Premier League Committee will be selected. The Lokpal and Ethics Officer will be appointed, while committees of permanent, cricket and umpires will also be formed.

Top posts and IPL council posts under discussion

Next to the BCCI AGM, the top officials are set to hold a strategic meeting to finalize the candidates for the key posts. While the roles of Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer are expected to continue, the President and Vice President are open for the competition.

The presidential race is widespread, a former player and a cricket administrator is being considered. The current vice -president Rajiv Shukla is a strong contender, with discussion about whether he will stay in his current role, will go to the President, or take over as the President of the IPL.

At the IPL Governing Council, former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary could return, while Avice Dalmia is also running from Bengal, a member of an existing council. The final selections will be determined during the leadership discussion before the AGM.
