The Control Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials are involved in the appointment of the new President and possibly in -depth discussion with a new secretary.
Devjit Saik is currently serving as BCCI Secretary, while Roger Binny’s 70 -year -old has been vacant since the age of 70 years.

The 1983 World Cup winner all -rounder, Roger Binny, was named BCCI President in October 2022. He turned 70 years old on July 19, 2025, and was disqualified from holding the post as per any office-guard, Supreme Court-Old Constitution as this age mark.

Since then, BCCI vice -president Rajiv Shukla has been filling for Binny, and according to a report in TOI, he is a high probability of being selected as the new BCCI President due to his experience as a cricket administrator.
A source told TOI, “Rajiv Shukla is a very good opportunity to be selected as BCCI President in the end of this month.”
Was Devjit Saikia’s days as BCCI Secretary?
Devjit Saikia served as BCCI Joint Secretary since October 18, 2022, in place of J Shah on January 12, 2025 as the new secretary, later elected as the President of ICC.
Allegedly, IPL President Arun Dhumal, former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary along with Devjit Saikia is struggling for the post of BCCI Secretary, who may continue in the role.
Meanwhile, Anirudh Chaudhary has emerged as one of the candidates to become the president of the new IPL. Currently, Rohan Desai and Prabhatage Singh are Joint Secretary and Treasurer of BCCI and are likely to continue in the role.
A source said, “Apparently, there is some confusion about whether Dhumal is served a cooling period. Things will be clear in the next few days.”
“Saikia has so far done a good job in about nine months that he has been in charge, the BCCI is efficiently running through a period where a lot has happened both on the field and outside in Indian cricket. There is no reason to believe that he cannot continue as BCCI Secretary,” Says those tracking development.
