Sanju Samson struggled to score runs in the middle order before going to the top of the order. The right-handed batsman has broken four fifty-plus scores in 4 matches as a opener in 4 matches in 4 matches. Samson has scored 355 runs at the top of the order in 4 innings and on an average with the best score of 88.75, 121 runs.

Sanju Samson produced a brilliant innings in the 22nd match of the Kerala Cricket League. He scored 83 runs in only 41 delivery, including two boundaries and nine sixes.

Sanju Samson has to face a hard fight to open slots in Asia Cup 2025
Prior to the Asia Cup 2025, India’s squad has strict competition for the initial slot, which is scheduled to begin on 9 September. Sanju Samson’s frequent performance carried forward his case in the eleven of playing.
Shubman Gill, named Vice-Quality for the tournament, is expected to open. Samson depicted a recent T20 as a opener as Gill was unavailable due to commitments in other formats.
Chief selector Ajit Aggarkar indicated that Gill’s position at the top was certainly fixed, leaving Samson to compete with other players for a place in the Xi. Abhishek Sharma can also be selected on Samson, which, given the ability to bowl part -time spin, gives the team added flexibility.

The Kerala-born cricketer may need to adjust the role of a middle-order to secure a place in the playing XI. However, he has struggled to score four or below the smallest international format.
The team led by Suryakumar Yadav will launch their Asia Cup campaign on 10 September. He will play his first match against UAE in Dubai. The remaining group stage matches against Pakistan and Oman will be held on 14 September and 19 September respectively.
