One of the successful testing batsmen of India, Cheteshwar Pujara recently announced his retirement from all forms of the game. However, it was not part of Cheteshwar Pujara’s immediate plans, but Indian selectors left him without any other option.
Indian selectors made it clear to Pujara that they were not going to consider them for re -test selection. Along with closing the door firmly, the former right -handed batsman has not only decided to quit international cricket, but also to get away from domestic cricket.

He wanted to open a place for the youth from Saurashtra just chasing India’s cap. Earlier, Saurashtra had expected Pujara to return to action after an oral commitment, but proved to be very heavy by national selectors to pursue repeated rejection of two years.

The first major indication about his major decision came when Pujara refused to play the Duleep Trophy 2025 during India’s visit to England.

And a few weeks later, he called time on his famous career. However, sources close to Pujara told Telecom Asia Sport that “retirement was not on his radar.”

Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara is not the only senior out of plans by the Indian think tank. Pujara’s prolonged partner Ajinkya Rahane has also been quietly informed in India’s middle order that his name will not be reconsidered again for test selection.
Telecom Asia Sports suggested that even in squad meetings, Indian selectors cited Pujara and Rahane as examples of players only due to age.
However, former Indian cricketer and Saurashtra coach Karsan Ghavri slammed the BCCI and the selectors to not bid farewell to Pujara. Karsan Ghavri said, “It was very difficult for him to make this decision. The return was always difficult, but he was certainly entitled to farewell. Anyone who plays more than 100 tests should be given a farewell match.”

Cheteshwar Pujara slam spin-havi pitches, demanded sporting wicket in India
Just a week after announcing their retirement, the 37 -year -old urged the BCCI to reconsider the pitches prepared for home test matches. Pujara has suggested that India’s over-neutrality on spin-friendly tracks has sometimes raised badly.
He cited 0-3 insults at home against New Zealand last year. The shocking defeat not only reduced India’s reputation on home land, but also played a major role in the third consecutive World Test Championship final in India.
The former Indian batsman insisted that the BCCI should now see how other testing nations prepare their tracks and ensure that Indian pitches also present a fair fight between batsmen and bowlers.
Pujara was told by NDTV: “I think things are changing now. Most of the teams are playing on better pitches, and I hope India is continuing to do so too. I am not saying that the ball should not be turned – but it should not finish the matches in three or a half days.
