Yuvraj Singh’s Test career and limited opportunities in India’s middle order
Yuvraj Singh made his Test debut against New Zealand in 2003 under the leadership of Rahul Dravid. He struggled in trials despite impressive outing in white-ball cricket.
Singh had partly limited opportunities in Test cricket due to India’s strong middle order, including Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. He last played a Test match against England during the loss of a domestic series in favor of Alastair Cook in 2012.
Ravindra Jadeja conducted his test after dropping Yuvraj. The experienced all -rounder performed well for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy in 2015 and 2016, but was not remembered to the test team. He was also ignored for the 2015 World Cup.
Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag have good circles – Sarandap Singh
Saradip Singh said that mythical Indian players like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra were a strong circle. He said that he focused on his goals and avoided distractions including excessive use of social media.
“Your circle has to be good. Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, and Ashish Neha have good circles. You will hardly see them on social media because they know how to follow their goals, and it comes when you have that kind of circle,” he said. (23:14)
