Armaan Jafar, nephew of former India opener Wasim Jafar, has been removed from his professional contract for the 2025-26 domestic season by the Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP). The report said that Jafar was expected to report for the inter-state one-day tournament of Pondicherry starting on August 10, but selected to play club cricket in England. Armaan Jafar has played 15 first -class matches, scoring 769 runs with three centuries and fifty. He has 546 runs from 15 List A Games, including a century and two fifties, while he added 27 runs in his only T20 outing.

Jaffer’s tenure with Pondicherry suddenly ended a few days before his practice matches. His father, Kalim Jafar, revealed that Armaan committed to an English club earlier this year, before Pondicherry contacted him for the pre-season game in May.

A formal request from Pondicherry came on 22 July. Kalim said he asked for Leve, so Armaan could first fulfill his obligations in England, and the batsman had also booked a return ticket to join the practice matches on 26 August.

However, the contract was canceled on 24 August. Kalim said that talks are going on with other domestic teams and Pondicherry has lost the services of in-form batter.
