Punjab bowling coach Gagandip Singh expressed surprise that Arshdeep Singh was not included in the playing XI during the five -match Test series in England. Gagandip said Arshdeep felt a little restless and impatient when he was not considered for selection despite the ability to swing the ball.
The left-handed pace was expected to make his Test debut during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. He was excluded from the fourth test in Manchester due to his left thumb injury. Pacer seemed to be fit again from the conclusion of the series at Oval, but the selectors chose not to include him in the shee.

With limited opportunities in red-ball cricket, Arshdeep has already strengthened its place in white ball formats. He has taken 14 wickets in 9 Odis and is in the economy of 99 scals 8.30 in 63 T20I games. In particular, Punjab Paper is going to take a major wicket for India in small format.

During the Buchi Babu tournament in Chennai, Gagandip Singh said that Arshdeep Singh felt impatient while waiting for his Test debut. Gagandip remembered that Arshdeep expressed disappointment at not getting the opportunity. He said that Pesar was favorable to bowl in England.
“When he was in England a few months ago, I talked to him. He was impatient that he was not getting a chance. I told him, ‘You will have to wait for your time’,” Gagandep said.
He said, “I think he should have played in England because he is a swing bowler and he is tall, everything is good. I don’t know the combination of the team, maybe coach (Gautam Gambhir) and captain (Shubman Gill) were not convinced about him,” he said.

Gagandip Singh believes that Arshdeep Singh still has areas to improve before earning his Test cap. He also emphasized that a close assessment in the coming months will help in finding out the readiness of the bowler for Test cricket.
“He can be a better bowler with more swing and more accuracy. I haven’t seen him in the last few months, but hopefully when I do, I can better assess him,” said Gagandip.
“What I have seen from recent matches can work more on the line and length, yorker balls and exclusive bouncers, which are the most effective delivery in international cricket.”
Arshdeep will be seen in action for India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which is scheduled to begin on 9 September in UAE. Left-handed fast bowler and Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace bowling attack in the eight-team tournament.
