He played 103 Test matches for India and got the nickname ‘The Wall’ for his match-defying performance in number 3. Pujara scored 7195 runs in Test cricket at a good average of 43.60. He also played five ODIs, but did not achieve much success.

Meanwhile, Pujara has revealed that he recently started thinking about his retirement and thought that it was the right time to go away from playing cricket.

“Look, I didn’t think much about it earlier. For about a week I thought a little that this is the right time. So when I took this decision today, it is a very proud moment for me and my whole family.

“On this day I want to thank all my colleagues, my coaches and all the supporting staff I worked, because it is a proud moment for me. Representing the Indian team, since childhood, when I was young, it was always a dream for India to play. When that dream was fulfilled and when this journey took place, we made a lot of memories.
