Former India spinner Pragana Ojha is expected to become a member of the Senior Selection Committee as a national selector. India has managed smooth leadership transitions during Ajit Agkar’s tenure as the chief selector. Shubman Gill was named Test Captain, and Suryakumar Yadav captured the T20I captaincy. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from T20 and Test, and Ravichandran Ashwin stepped away from all formats.
Pragana to join Ojha Ajit Agkar’s selection committee
BCCI has invited applications for two posts on the men’s National Selection Committee, requiring 20 first-class matches as well as a minimum seven Test matches, or 30 first-class matches, or 10 Odis.

Candidates should have retired at least five years ago and no BCCI Cricket Committee was served for a total of five years. According to the Times of India, Pragan Ojha is expected to be included as a national selector from the south region, replacing S Sharath.

Sharath is completing its four -year term, maximum permission under BCCI rules. He could return as the chief selector of the Junior Selection Committee, a role he held earlier.
Program Ojha’s performance for India in international cricket
Pragan Ojha performed his ODI against Bangladesh in the 2008 Asia Cup, with 2/43. He made his Test debut after a year Sri LankaClaimed four wickets. After the retirement of Anil Kumble, Ojha was considered a prominent candidate for Harbhajan Singh’s partner.
The left -arm spinners reached the peak of their test career around 2011, taking 100 wickets in tests between 2010 and 2013.
On an average, Ojha took 113 wickets in an average 24 tests of 30.26, including seven wickets Houles. He played his last Test in November 2013, which was also Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell match. The spinner ended with 113 Test wickets, 21 ODI wickets and 10 T20I wickets.
Ajit Agkar’s term extended to June 2026 as the chief selector
Ajit Agkar’s term has been extended by June 2026 with a plan to invite the new application for the National Selection Committee. The board is satisfied with the current panel and is likely to make only one change by changing the sharath with Pragana Ojha.
The Indian Express report mentions, “The BCCI will call for new applications to move forward. However, it is not clear that the board will maintain DAS and Banerjee.
Agarkar took charge in July 2023 and oversee a successful period for Indian cricket, including winning 2024 T20 World Cup And 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. In particular, the team also reached the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
The official update on panel change is expected to be held during the annual general meeting of BCCI in September.
