According to a recent Cricbuzz report, Indian Test Captain Shubman Gill and fast bowler Mohammad Siraj can be excluded from the T20I squad for the upcoming tournament.
Shubman Gill recently scored more than 750 runs in the England Test series, making him the second largest run-scorer in India in the same series behind Sunil Gavaskar. On the other hand, Mohammad Siraj ended as the most wicket -taker among Indian bowlers. He was the only Indian fast bowler to play all five matches.
Shubman Gill is expected to leave India out of Asia Cup T20I squad
Team India Asia Cup 2025 The squad is expected to be announced in Mumbai on 19 August. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are likely to maintain their roles as openers of the first choice. Shubman Gill missed the previous T20 World Cup and India’s recent domestic series against England.

According to Cricbuzz, Gill is behind in the backup opener spot race. Yashasvi Jaiswal is considered a major contender for the third-opening role, with the selectors with openers so far.
Gill will need support from coach Gautam Gambhir to secure a place. Either Jaiswal or Gill can be selected for the backup opener slot for the tournament. Jaiswal has an advantage, but neither can be selected.
Shubman Gill last played for India in T20Is during the Sri Lanka series July 2024
Shubman Gill Started its T20I for India in January 2023 against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 25 -year -old batsman has scored 578 runs in 21 matches on an average of 30.42 with a strike rate of 139.27, including a century and three fifties.
Gill scored 126 runs in 63 balls including 12 fours and seven sixes against New Zealand in February 2023.
The right -handed batsman was not included for the series against Bangladesh, South Africa and England. However, he was the fourth highest run-scorer with 650 runs, behind Sai Reformson, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli.
Mohammad Siraj prepared to remember the Asia Cup squad despite the fine form
The report states that Jasprit Bumrah Team India is expected to lead the speed attack. Arshdeep Singh, Prasad Krishna and Harshit Rana are likely to be other pacers, serving as pace-bouncing all-rounders with Hardik Pandya.
Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakraborty, Ravi Bishnoi and Deputy captain Axar Patel are expected to facilitate. Washington Sundar is also in the selection radar for the tournament.
Mohammad Sirraj is unlikely to be selected in the squad. After the Asia Cup, India will host a test series against the West Indies starting on 2 October. Veteran Pesar Mohammed Shami is also unlikely to consider.
Suryakumar Yadav has successfully approved his fitness test and will captain India in the Asia Cup starting on 9 September. India will open its campaign against the United Arab Emirates at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 10 September.
