“I don’t think everyone in world cricket needs to aspire to play Test cricket, and it may be fine. We are truly trying to send banks to bankrupts if we force them to try to play Test cricket. In Test cricket, lack of Test cricket is our friend, not our enemy.”

He said, “We need to ensure that we invest in the right places to play Test cricket, where it means something and there is a danger. That is why the ashes will be as big and profitable as it is – because it means something,” he said.

The solution to save Test cricket is not on scale – Mitchell Johnson

In his column for West Australian, Mitchell Johnson said that Test cricket can be maintained by supporting emerging cricket nations. He said that players and fans in small cricketing countries are emotional about the format even without attractive TV deals.

“Here’s the matter – if it is afraid, we have already remembered this point. The solution to save Test cricket is not to reach it to three or four rich countries. This is to uplift the rest. Help them. Help them. Increase the game. Return them.”

“This is the place where the real leadership begins not dragging the-ladder, but by creating a strong base. Because let’s clear: these nation wants to play Test cricket. Players want it.

I do not have all the answers – Mitchell Johnson

Mitchell Johnson warned against overplaying “Big Three” in the cricket calendar. The former fast bowler admitted that he has not all solutions, but shared his views from the perspective of former-Khiladi.

“I do not have all the answers, it is not in my salary grade, but I can say from the point of view of a pre-Khiladi that we need many countries playing Test cricket as much as possible. If this was not for Test cricket and its preliminary financial assistance, we do not watch Twenty 20 cricket as today.”
