It will be quite interesting to see how long Duo can pull his ODI career as 50 overs have reduced considerably from the cricket calendar, and in addition, they will only join the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were last seen in action during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Triumph and were expected to return to international cricket in Bangladesh tour, which was eventually canceled by the BCCI.
He is set to return to action in Australia’s visit to India for convenience in the three -match ODI series. Next to the tour, a report by Dainik Jagran claimed that it would be the last ODI series for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
It was reported that the pair would retire from ODI cricket after the series as to prove the Vijay Hazare Trophy as their credibility due to the mandate from the BCCI.
But another PTI report suggested that the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not issued any such instructions; Instead, they want the pair to play India matches.
India does not have trusted players at number 1 and number 3 – Suresh Raina on Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli’s retirement
Former national cricket team of India, Suresh Raina, is completely against the idea of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who is currently retiring from OD cricket.
He said that the Indian dressing room needs both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and their presence will only help the youth to grow further. Talking to Telecom Asia Sport, Suresh Raina said:
“There are currently no trusted players in India at number 1 and number 3 (in Odis), especially when chasing. Rohit and Virat’s experience is very important … It is important for seniors to be involved with juniors. Shubman (Gill) has really done well, but they need players like Virat and Rohit.
“He has won the Champions Trophy, he has won the World Cup. Virat has also won the last IPL. For the amazing leadership shown during his career, he needs to be a part of the dressing room.”

Siraj should be part of the Indian set -up in all three formats – Suresh Raina
Mohammad Siraj is a very inauspicious campaigner as he was removed from India’s white-ball setup despite not giving him a very poor performance.
However, with his recent heroes in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he took 23 wickets in 9 innings at an average of 32.43 and ended as a leading wicket taker in the series, he sent a clear message to the selection committee that it is ready for all formats.
Meanwhile, Suresh Raina praised Mohammad Siraj and included his inclusion in the squad of India in the format.
“Siraj should be part of the Indian set-up in all three formats, the way he performed for the country with both white ball and red ball. He bowled 187 overs in the series and went without any swallowing.”
