The rumors of Ashwin’s exit gained momentum after CSK’s disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, finished tenth on the table’s table, and reports of the prestigious outlets suggested that Ashwin had informed CSK about his wish. “After every season, it is the responsibility of the franchise to communicate to the player if they are maintaining it or releasing it,” Ashwin said. He emphasized that when the news about the futures of him and other players circled, no part of it was born from the players themselves. “Every player wants clarity. As things stand, it is not in my hands. I have just asked for clarity,” He said, highlighting the importance of transparent communication between the team and its roster, especially for experienced players with important pay profiles.

The 38-year-old, which was re-signed by CSK for 9.75 crores in 2025 IPL mega auction, matched expectations, managed only seven wickets and 33 runs in nine matches-described as a lower tag of heavy price by Pandits and former players.
