The India National cricket team is set to play in the Asia Cup 2025 after the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against England. According to a report by the news agency PTI, Ajit Agarkar -led selection committee is preparing to finalize the Indian squad, with a marki tournament a few weeks away.
The Asia Cup 2025 is to be played in the T20I format in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 9 to 28 September. India last played a T20I series earlier this year, defeating England 4–1 at home. In particular, Team India’s new Test captain, Shubman Gill, is all set to return to the T20I lineup for the upcoming tournament.
Asia Cup 2025 Squad by August 20 to Choose Paul
The selection panel led by Ajit Agkar is expected to finalize the selection on August 19 or August 20, after receiving medical updates on all players of the Sports Science team of the Center of Excellence. Captain Suryakumar Yadav has resumed batting practice in Bengaluru.

Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar, Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandya are likely to maintain their places in the T20I squad. Sharma recently topped the ICC T20 batting rankings, while Samson impressed with the bat in the format.
However, Shubman Gill’s form in IPL 2025 can make him difficult to ignore him, which can create a selection dilemma given the surplus of the in-form openers.
“Abhishek Sharma is the world’s number 1 T20 batter in the previous ICC rankings. Sanju Samson has been spectacular in the last season with both bat and gloves. So it will definitely be a hard call but Shubman (although in tests) cannot be ignored in the current form. He did not even have a good IPL. There are many artists for the selectors.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudhrson is not likely for Asia Cup Squad
Young opener Yashsvi Jaiswal and Sai Reformson are unlikely to be included. Wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul is also unlikely to be taken, as he does not bat in the middle order.
Sanju Samson is almost certain to be the first choice keeper, with Dhruv Jurlel, who played in the previous T20I series, and Jitesh Sharma, who impressed RCB’s finisher during his IPL title run, competed for a backup role.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is expected to miss the tournament due to injury. Shivam Dubey could maintain his place, while Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are likely to introduce as spin-bouncing all-rounders.
For speed attack, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh will be the first choice, with Prasad Krishna, who took 25 wickets in the last IPL, and Harshit Rana competed for the role of the third seamor.
