The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finally revealed its ratings for the pitches used during the England vs England Test series, and the decision has created a new debate. The five-match India vs England Test series had an thrilling end at the Oval, where tourists dramatically won the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy for a 2β2 level.
The five-match Test series, which was part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27, had everything from stress finish to breakout performance that would never forget the fans soon.

Chris Woakes also won applause during the last moment at the Oval to bat in a sovereign with his arm, where he badly injured his shoulder. In a courageous step, he stood at the end of the non-strayer as Atkinson tried to protect him and win the match for England in the fifth Test.

Meanwhile, a journalist at the A Times of India claimed that the opening test of the India vs England Test series in the Leeds was bright praise, but the story was different for the remaining four tests. He revealed that only the first test pitch was labeled by the ICC as “very good”.
However, the surfaces used in the next three tests did not find the same rating. Instead, Pitch at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester were given status as “satisfactory” by ICC only.

However, the ICC has not yet evaluated the oval pitch. Journalist posted on X: “ICC Pitch Rating for India vs England series: The pitch has been rated as ‘very good’ for the first testing in Leeds; however, the pitches for the next 3 tests are only given ‘satisfactory’ ratings. The pitch ratings for the 5th test are not yet out.:: :)”

India vs England Test Series Highlight:
First Test – Headingly, Leeds
England pursued a challenging target of 371 runs despite India’s first innings score of 471 in Headingley with a solid five wicket win in the Test series. Ben Docket stole the show against India with his game-changing knock of 62 and 149.
Second Test – Edgbaston, Birmingham
India bounced back into style, crushing England by 336 runs. This was a special moment, as it was India’s first test win in Edgbaston. Indian captain Shubman Gill’s Record-Breaking Dastak of 269 set the tone, and later Mohammad Sirj and Akash Deep did the rest.
Third Test – Lords, London
India fought a tough fight in the third Test at Lord’s, but scored just 22 runs. The lower order came close to a surprising chase, but Siraj’s wicket took England a 2β1 series lead.
4 Tests – Old Trafford, Manchester
Both India and England fought a tough fight in the fourth Test, but ended in the match draw.
5th Test – The Oval, London
India organized their nerve to win a thriller by six runs and win the series 2β2. Mohammad Siraj was a hero at the Oval.
