Even fans eagerly waited for clarity on MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon has once again shown that his bond with the franchise is beyond the game. Speaking at a private event in Chennai, MS Dhoni clarified whether he is on the field or not, his association with CSK is a lifetime.
The 44 -year -old legend has been the face of Chennai Super Kings since the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008. Dhoni led CSK to five IPL titles and two Champions League Trophy. He is not only a player for the franchise, but is a symbol of the team’s heart and its identity.

Well, veteran wicketkeeper-Better has once again won hearts by confirming his strong bond with Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni has announced that he will always be a part of the CSK family, possibly in the IPL in a non-playing or mentoring role.

MS Dhoni said at the event in Chennai, “I have always said that there is a lot of time for me to decide, but if you are asking about coming back to a yellow jersey, we will always be in a yellow jersey, but will I or not, or not, I and CSK are together. Even for the next 15-20 years.”

Chennai Super Kings’ conflict in IPL
Yellow men have been struggling in the IPL for the last few sessions. Next to the 2024 season, Dhoni passed the captaincy to Ruturaj Gikwar, which was seen as a sign of his gradual exit from the IPL. Under the new captain, they failed to make it in the playoffs.
Then, in IPL 2025, an unfortunate elbow injury for the mid-season of Gaikwad saw Dhoni as captain. Despite Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK won only 4 wins in 14 matches, ending the season at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points.
There was speculation that IPL 2024 would be Dhoni’s final season, especially after his knee surgery, but he surprised everyone in 2025 by recovering well and returning. Although the former Indian captain has not confirmed whether he will play in IPL 2026, he has already shown full support for the return of Gikwad.

In the last few sessions, Dhoni has played a very small part with the bat. Nevertheless, legendary cricketer CSK continues to get unwavering support from fans who chant their names every time when he steps on the field.
Their presence alone raises the morale of the team and creates a discussion in the stadium. He has not crossed the 200 -run mark in the last three sessions in yellow color. Dhoni scored 104, 161 and 196 runs in 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons, while batting in lower order for CSK.
