Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting slammed Team India’s pacer Akash to send England opener Ben Docket during the fifth Test match at Oval on Friday, August 1. Ponting said that if such a gesture was made during his sports days, he showed physical aggression.

Ricky Ponting said that if Akash Deep had responded with a punch to send him like this during his sports days. The comment took place during the Sky Sports lunch show on day 2, when the presenter Ian Ward brought the incident related to Akash and Ben Docket.

“I can think of some batsmen, who take umbrage on it, and I am looking a lot in your direction. It would be a right hook, willn’t it be?” Asked Ian Warand.

“Maybe yes, maybe,” Ponting replied.

Ricky Ponting expressed praise for Ben Docket’s calm response after being rejected by Akash. Ponting also said that his honor for the England opener had increased even more as he did not retaliate after sending.

“Although I mean, when I saw it, I felt that they must have been partners or played against each other or somewhere. I would like to do something like this.”

“I mean, you don’t see that every day, perhaps not in a local park game or in a Test match, which is played fiercely as this series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal helped India overcome the deficit for the first time and took a lead of about 52 runs a day. On Friday, the bowlers were dominated as 15 wickets. India added only 20 runs in their overnight score of 204-6 before exiting 224.
