According to a report by Espncricinfo, Jaspreet Bumrah recalled the upcoming fifth and final test against England on Thursday, 31 July. The BCCI medical team has advised Bumrah to sit in the final match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy to prioritize his long-term fitness.

The decision to rest the Jasprit Bumrah for the final test is not surprising. Before the England series began, Indian selectors and team management confirmed that Bumrah would play in only three out of five matches as part of the management of his charge and would ensure that he stays fit for future commitments.

Bumrah’s struggles were clear during the fourth test drawn in Manchester. He scored 112 runs in 33 overs – for the first time in his career, he conceded more than 100 runs in a single innings. Although he took two wickets, his pace had reduced considerably.

The 31 -year -old bowled over 140kphs in 42.7% of his delivery at Headingley, but fell to 22.3% in Lord’s and just 0.5% in Old Trafford. Heavy charge and combination of flat pitches affected his performance.

Jasprit emerges as the highest wicket -taker in the Bumrah series

The joint is the highest wicket -consuming joint in the Bumrah series, claiming 14 wickets in three trials at an average of 26 on an average. He recorded two five-wicket haols, including 5 for 83 in Headingley and 5 for 74 in Lord’s. Overall, Bumrah has taken 219 wickets in 48 tests at an impressive average of 19.82.

India’s decision to rest Bumrah for the final test at the Oval came after two days when his availability was confirmed by head coach Gautam Gambhir. The move has drawn mixed reactions from fans and experts about the team’s approach to managing their charge.

Meanwhile, India kept the series alive with a flexible batting attempt in the fourth test in Manchester. After falling back by 311 runs in the first innings, he replied with a strong second innings of 425 for 4, thanks to Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja for centuries.

There is a deep possibility of replacing Bumrah for oval testing

Akash Deep is expected to play in XI, India for the fifth exam instead of Jaspreet Bumrah. Paer of Bengal impressed in the only win of India’s series in Edgbaston, where he took 10 wickets, but struggled in the following match at Lord’s, managing just one wicket for 122 runs.

India is considering further changes after a disappointing bowling performance in that match. Shardul Thakur and Anshul Kamboj can make way for Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh or Prasad Krishna.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was dropped from the final test after fracturing his toe during the manchester game. Dhruv Juraral is likely to step as a wicketkeeper.
