Parthiv Patel said that England worked hard to dismiss India and win. However, he gave up that he realized that a win was out of reach. Patel said that Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar batted brilliantly and were able to score for centuries.
“England did things in their own way. Their effort was clear – they wanted to bowl to India and win the game,” Parthiv said on Gehotstar.
“But when he realized that it was not possible, he put his weapons down and admitted that India had played very well. At the same time, India did what he wanted to do in his own way – two players really worked hard, batted brilliantly, and both were worthy of scoring for centuries,” he said.
If Ben Docket was batting at 90 in the same situation … – Parthiv Patel asked Ben Stokes
Parthiv Patel questioned whether England would have reacted in the same way that the roles were reversed. He said that when there was a debate about the spirit of sports, Indian batsmen should have continued till the end of the day even after completing their centuries.
“I have the only question: if Ben Docket was batting in the same position on 90 and the opposition offered a handshahek, would England have accepted it?” Patel opted.
“I am very eager to know this, especially with a lot of talk about the ‘spirit of the game’. In my opinion, the game should have been continued by the end of the day, even if the Indian batsmen have completed their centuries,” he said.
India should have batted because they worked hard – Parthiv Patel

Parthiv said, “If 15 overs were still left, India should have batted because they had worked hard. Before lunch at day 4, when two wickets fell, it seemed that India could lose 5 days exam.”
He said, “But batting through 143 overs from that point is an incredible attempt. Therefore, I believe what India did was absolutely right – although personally, I think they could have batted a little more,” he said.
