In a massive shock for the New Zealand National Cricket Team, Test Captain Tom Latham has been dropped from the upcoming match against the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team.
To deal with its absence, the New Zealand National Cricket Team has decided to hand over the Test Captain to White-Ball captain Mitchell to the Test Captain for the match.

The test series opener between the teams has been designed to start on July 30 in Bulwayo, and the second test is scheduled to be played at the same place from August 7.
Tom Latham was expected to lead Kiwi in the series, but he faced a shoulder injury while fielding during the T20 match for Birmingham earlier this month.
He has not been able to make quick recovery and has been disqualified for the first test against Chevron. However, Tom Latham will live with the team as NZC is expecting the skipper to recover for the second Test match.
Mitchell Santner is named as New Zealand’s new Test captain in the absence of Tom Latham, and he will become the 32nd person to lead Blackcap in the longest format of the game.

This is extremely disappointing for Tom to remember the first Test – Rob Walter
In an official statement issued by New Zealand Cricket (NZC), Kiwi’s head coach Rob Walter said that he was disappointed to see Tom Latham to refuse to be out of the match, but again confirmed that he would try his best to provide the skipper for another game. He explained in detail:
Walter said, “It is very disappointing for Tom that they are remembering the first Test, as captain, but also as an integral part of the team.”
“It is never great when you lose your captain, who is a world -class inaugural batsman and a great team man, but said that we are going to work really hard to be available for another test.
“We will continue to assess and see if a replacement player is necessary, but at this stage we hope he will recover on time.”
I believe he’s going to do a great job – Rob Walter on Michelle Santner
Rob Walter further stated that Mitchell Santner has a strong understanding of the game and supported him to do a great work as a Test captain. He said:
“Mitch did a wonderful job with the T20 squad in this recent series. He was excellent from the point of view of a strategy and has a strong understanding of the game.
“While the format is different, he definitely has respect for the players and will be supported by some high experienced test cricketers, so I am confident that he is going to do a great work.”
In particular, Mitchell Santner recently carried forward Blackcaps to win a stunning T20i three-series in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
