The Pakistan government has taken a major step in view of India’s Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam attack, as they have decided against sending sports teams in India for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. India is set to host the Asia Cup 2025 and the World Cup later this year.
Recently, the Prime Minister’s Youth Development and Sports Program head Rana Mashood said that the security of Pakistani players is the top priority, and the government is reviewing the security situation for athletes traveling to India for sports events.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) had allegedly reached the concerned ministries, demanding advice and formal approval to send players for the upcoming tournament in India. The upcoming Asia Cup 2025 is important, as it also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Hockey World Cup.

But the Pakistan government raised security concerns for Pakistani citizens who allegedly crossed the border, and now their participation in the next month’s Asia Cup hockey tournament is under serious suspicion. The Pakistan hockey team has been denied approval for the Asia Cup visit to India.
In particular, the Hockey Asia Cup 2025 will be held from 27 August to 7 September 2025 in Rajgir, India, and the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2025 will be held in Chennai in Chennai, Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium and in Madurai in Tamil Nadu from 28 November to 10 December 2025.

Meanwhile, in a major development, Pakistan has decided to send its hockey team to India for the upcoming Hockey Asia Cup, according to top government sources. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the political and diplomatic tension between the two countries.
Although the Pakistan Hockey Federation has not yet issued an official statement about government calls, the government realized that the situation was not safe for citizens to cross the border for any sports activity for the citizens.

India can transfer the venue 2025 site due to stressful relations with India Pakistan
On the other hand, India is also the official host of the Asia Cup 2025, and they may soon request a change in the site due to issues between India and Pakistan. According to a report by Telecom Asia Sport, the two countries have agreed not to send their cricket teams to each other, which has led to uncertainty for the subcontinent T20 tournament.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has already reached the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI), to ask if they want to transfer the tournament to the neutral site. However, BCCI has not yet responded. If the BCCI agrees, the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup may exit India and be held at a neutral site like the hybrid model used in previous versions.
It is also being said that BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have decided not to attend the ACC meeting to be held in Dhaka on 24 July. The main agenda will be discussed for the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup in the meeting.
