Shubman Gill has given another Test Master Class on the Edgbaston Pitch with the second century in the match. Already, after burning the first innings with a record 269, Gill attacked another century on day 4, which has a total of 300 India’s second innings. With India’s lead crossing 480, Gill’s dominance became the central subject of the day. His golden run records continue to rewrite in the series.
Shubman Gill dominates Edgbaston with his twin tons
Shubman Gill’s dream run continued in Edgbaston as he followed his royal 269 in the first innings, but the second with another sublime century. Walking at 96/2, Gill controlled the proceedings with a quiet, confident approach. He shared a 110 -run partnership with Rishabh Pant, which was combining aggression with compatures, and later anchored an innings with Ravindra Jadeja. His hundred came from only 129 balls, which was studded with nine fours and three sixes, as India’s lead had moved from 480. It marked the 8th Test ton of Gill, the fifth against England, and took 2,400 runs with his Tally 42-Plus average. Now he has more than 1,100 runs in distant tests and has crossed 600 in England alone. In the ongoing series, he has been broken on 147, 8, 269, and now another ton – adopting his total 500 in four innings. The 25 -year -old also became the first Indian and Asian captain to score a dual century in England. His 269 now stands as the highest score by an Indian on English earth, which takes 221 of Sunil Gavaskar in the oval. Gill’s exploits have not only conducted India’s dominance, but has also strengthened its place among the great touring batsmen of all time.
Historical feat and elite company for Indian Test Captain Gill
Along with this rare double – while overseeing a double hundred and a century in the same test – Gill opened his name with legends. He is only the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar (Port of Spain, 1971) and is the ninth player in history to achieve this milestone. Among the captains, only England’s Graham Gooch first completed it (1990 vs. in Lord’s). In addition, Gill joined an elite list of Indian captains to score for centuries in both innings of a test after Gill Gavaskar (VS Y, 1978) and Virat Kohli (VS AUS, 2014). His landmark outing has also seen him matching Virat Kohli for three centuries in his first two tests to become the second player in history. Seven other captains, including names like Hazare, Chappell, Cook and Smith, manage two – but Gill has moved a step ahead. Their twin tones highlight not only stability but adaptability, which are leading from the front in testing techniques and nature known for nature. Sheer dominance, volume of run, and match awareness underlines his growth in a leader. Gill not only took over the reins, but has redefined what is the meaning of being India’s Test Captain. His Edgbaston Heroic can become a defined chapter in modern Indian cricket history.

If I want to see an opposition batsman bat for the entirety of Test Summer, Shubman Gill is much better for Graeme or Steve Smith. Absolutely sublime technician.

500 runs in the series already for Shubman Gill – an incredible start for his career as captain. Don Bradman’s all-time record-974 runs for the most runs in a series is not completely impossible with 3 runs-to-3 tests.
