Former England spinner Monty Panesar expressed serious concern about Gautam Gambhir’s ability as head coach, especially after India’s unexpected loss in the first test against England.
Panesar said India’s batting looked solid with five centuries in solid and over 400 scores in Headingley, but it was a bowling unit that completely separated when it was most important.
India is currently 0–1 behind the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, and the second test at Edgbaston starting on 2 July is important for his return to England. His five -wicket defeat in Headingley was disappointing, especially since the upper hand was in India after the first innings.

Gautam Gambhir faces a big test as Monty Panesar questioned his bowling strategy
However, the bowling unit failed to protect the 371-run target on a large scale in the fourth innings, allowing England to easily pursue it and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series.
Panesar believes that Gautam Gambhir’s ability to create a solid batting lineup has already been proved, but the head coaches are now facing a major reality investigation in terms of his leadership ability.

Former England spinner mentions that the real question is whether Gautam Gambhir can attack a bowling attack that is enough to take 20 wickets and finish the work.
Panesar felt that India’s defeat in Headingley exposed the strategy and coaching problem of Gambhir in the selection of the team.
‘Is Gautam Gambhir a good coach to make bowling good?’
Monty Panesar was quoted from IANS saying, “Fans are going to troll. He is going to come after Gautam Gambhir. The question is, ‘Gautam Gambhir has a good coach to bowl? Does he have the ability?’ He needs to think now, well, I know how to bat to set fire, but as a coach, can I choose the team to take 20 wickets? “
Now, everyone’s eyes are on the second Test in Edgbaston, and Panesar feels that if India’s bowling does not improve quickly, the BCCI testing can start revaluation of its decision test by testing, so their biggest challenge is to find out how to build a bowling unit which can be dominated in difficult situations.

Panesar said, “This is his biggest challenge in England right now, and if he is not able to display it, I think the BCCI will slowly test, assess it by Test match, and they just think, you know what we should do after the end of the series?
Monty Panesar urged India to choose a spin and play Arshdeep Singh in Edgbaston
Meanwhile, the British hopes that the pitch in Edgbaston will be dry and spin-friendly, providing a big opportunity for India, including a frontline spinner.
He believes that Kuldeep Yadav or Washington Sundar should have to take advantage of situations in EDGBASTON in XI, India.
Panesar suggested that India’s main focus should be on selecting a bowling attack capable of taking 20 wickets, as batting is not worried about them.
He also feels that fame Krishna may need a break due to short bowling in Headingly, as he called for the introduction of Arshdeep Singh in the second Test.
He signed, saying, “This is going to be a turn wicket. Edgbaston is drought. We will not see more grass from the wicket. I think it will help in India. Edgbaston wicket will suit India. India only needs to work on his bowling.”
“We need to take 20 wickets to win a Test match. Ashdeep Singh will have to play. The left -handed seam, I think the England will create problems for the team. Then, he has Mohammad Siraj; maybe Shardul Thakur could play.”
