Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam broke his silence on the uncertainty on the ongoing uncertainty around Bangladesh’s White-Ball Tour in August. Aminul confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not officially confirmed the upcoming visit.

It is noteworthy that Indian legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were due to playing international cricket in the series. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have announced their retirement from tests and T20I formats.

Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma plays ODI match only for India

In such a scenario, ODI cricket is the only format that is left to play for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as far as international cricket is concerned. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli last played for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, in which men won in Blue.

Earlier, in April, BCB issued a schedule for a tour of India, including three ODI matches, following which three T20s came in August. However, the tour remains uncertain as the BCCI has not yet given final approval. BCCI is expected to take a decision only after consulting the Government of India.

We are discussing positively on the India -Bangladesh series with BCCI -BCB President

BCB president Aminul Islam remains optimistic about the series against India, even though the tour is not originally in the plan in August. Aminul confirmed that the discussion with the BCCI is going on and is positive. He emphasized that both boards are also searching for alternative windows.

“We are discussing positively with BCCI,” Aminul told the media after the 19th board meeting held at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday (June 30).

He said, “This (hosting India) is not in August or September, we are discussing how we can do the series and if we cannot host it then we will now do it at another possible time. They (BCCI) are waiting for some government approval,” he said.

India is going to visit Bangladesh from 17 to 31 August

India has to visit Bangladesh from 17 August to 31 August, followed by three T20s. The matches are to be played in Mirpur and Chatogram. If India decides not to travel, it may postpone the international return of senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

India has not won an ODI series in Bangladesh since 2014. Meanwhile, the T20I series will be India’s first bilateral T20I series on Bangladeshi soil. The T20 World Cup champion last played Bangladesh in a T20I series in 2024, which won it 3–0 at home.

“We have almost finalized the agreement with Simon, and he, with his team, will work to educate our umpires,” Aminul said.

He said, “We have decided to include women selectors for the national women’s team soon. We want to add another selector to the national selection panel as it is difficult for two selectors to cover everything,” he said.
