Despite the five spectacular centuries, after the disappointing five wickets in England in the first Test, the Indian cricket team is expected to make major changes in Playty XI for the second Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
Not only the low-middle order lack of support and lack of fighting with talenders, but a weak bowling performance in the first Test has also forced the Indian think tank to make significant changes in the playing XI for the second Test against England starting on July 2 in Birmingham.
India’s five-buyer strategy for Edgbaston Test
Sources have revealed Cricblogger that the Indian cricket team management is now thinking of returning to a more traditional bowling strategy, who is playing five appropriate bowlers who struggle to have an impact with bat or ball rather than back-time.

This approach was once an important part of Virat Kohli’s captaincy style and helped the Indian cricket team to top Test cricket.
It was also clear in the headingle that Jasprit Bumrah recalled his trusted pace partner Mohammed Shami, who is still recovering and is not completely match-fit.
Without Mohammed Shami, Bumrah faced the burden alone, and it was shown. He was tired, and after no help from the fielders and other bowlers, he could not take a single wicket in the second innings after five wickets in the first innings against England in Headingley.
Kuldeep Yadav is likely to replace Shardul Thakur in Xi for the Edgbaston Test.
Additionally, a Cricblogger report also claimed that Kuldeep Yadav would be brought to the playing XI for the second Test, possibly replacing all-rounder Shardul Thakur, to add more strength and diversity to the spin department after the simple performance of Ravindra Jadeja.
Tourists are all confirmed to make a strong comeback in the second Test in Edgbaston, with a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series in England.
Recently, former Australia captain Michael Clarke also suggested that Kuldeep Yadav should be included in the XI of India, calling it a clear and smart step. Clarke noted that Kuldeep has a rare skill of taking wickets, no matter what kind of pitch he is bowling.

This is a complete no-bravener: Michael Clarke returned Kuldeep Yadav to play in England
Whether it is changing or flat, Kuldeep’s diversity and wrist-spin can disturb any batting lineup. The Indian cricket team was struggling to take important wickets in the first Test, Clarke feels that Kuldeep’s presence could bring a big change in the upcoming sports.
Michael Clarke said on Beyond 23 Podcast, “Bowling-wise, I don’t want to work hard on anyone, but I think he has got to play the role of Kuldeep Yadav. I think it is an absolute no-man. He is a wicket-taking and a lot will be offered compared to the attack.”
Clarke said Bumrah is brilliantly leading the attack, but other pacers should improve their execution and find a better way to take wickets.
He said, “A star of Bumrah; he is leading the attack. But the other three pacers, yes, he bowled well many times, but he needs to find more ways to take wickets. His execution probably needs to be better.”
