Recently in a development, England’s fast bowler Mark Wood returned to the nets on Friday after recovering from knee surgery. Veteran Pesar Shubman Gill, led by Gill, is eyeing the return in the ongoing Test series against India, and is making a comeback to the fifth and final match of the series.
Mark Wood suffered an average ligament damage to his left knee during the Champions Trophy earlier this year. He surgery in March and was expected to take him four months to recover. The much -awaited test series began with the first match in Handingley in Leeds on Friday, 20 June.

Speaking to the BBC Test match special, Paer of England confirmed that his rehabilitation was moving well and recently resumed light bowling.

“Rehab is going well,” Wood told the BBC Test match special. “I have just started bowling very lightly, so I am now officially on the way to return.
“I am still hoping to play a role in this series, so I should take a look at some players here against whom I can come. I am still targeting the final exam. Anything is probably very soon before that. The final exam, I cannot reach there, but in minutes, it is still my attention that I can play a part.”

Mark Wood is optimistic about returning to the final test against India, which is scheduled to begin on 31 July at Kia Oval. Wood said that this process started gradually but now has started taking pace.
“It’s a little slow [coming back] to start with. I could not do much, but now started moving, some bowling, hopefully not too long. [I am] Still hopefully I can play a role at the end of the series, but I will just wait and see. ,
Mark Wood is likely to make a comeback in competitive cricket on July 22, when he expects a convenience for Durham in his county championship struggle against the Samarset.
Wood has taken 119 wickets out of 37 Tests, on average 30.42, however, his record against India has been less impressive, on average at 50.33 with just 9 wickets in 4 tests.
England to carefully manage Mark Wood from Ashes Tour
England are remembering the major fast bowlers including Jofra Archer and Mark Wood for the ongoing test series against India. Wood has started his rehabilitation, especially with the Ashes Tour of Australia.
Oli Stone is excluded for the entire Test summer with a knee injury, and Gus Atkinson missed the series opener against India after taking a hamstring strain during the Zimbabwe series.
Meanwhile, Archer’s return is being closely managed. The England camp hopes that he may return to the second Test in Birmingham on 2 July. Archer can return a test in his back and elbow after struggling with a four -year tension fracture.
Archer is expected to play for Sussex against Durham, starting on Sunday, which will be his first red-ball outing since May 2021.
