6,6,6,6! Ruturaj Gikwad sent Gautam Gambhir with T20-style batting in Buchi Babu tournament

28 -year -old India National Cricket Team and Maharashtra batsman Ruturaj Gikwad broke a stunning hundred in 2025 Buchi Babu Invitational match against Himachal Pradesh.

During his incredible innings, Ruturaj Gikwad moved into T20 mode and hit four sixes in a single over to send a message to the BCCI selection committee and team management.

Ruturaj Gikwad shines against Himachal Pradesh

Gaikwad is undoubtedly one of the most promising batsmen in world cricket, but he has been quite unfortunate and currently not with Team India’s setup.

He started his journey in the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament running on a bad note, as he recorded scores of 1 and 11 in the first round against Chhattisgarh.

Then, Gikwad left the second match of Maharashtra against TNCA President K XI, which began on 26 August before returning to XI for the third round stability against Himachal Pradesh.

Batting for the first time in the match, Maharashtra lost Siddhesh Veer for 22, but Arshin Kulkarni joined the army with Ruturaj Gikwad and put the team out of trouble.

The two made a 220 -run stand, which brought back the speed towards Maharashtra, and the two batsmen killed the brilliant centuries. Ruturaj Gikwad reached his centenary off 122 balls and completed his innings with a score of 133 runs in 144 delivery.

Gaikwad’s innings was studded with 10 fours and 4 sixes – all came in single over. The video of four incredible sixes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper went viral on social media.

Ruturaj Gaikwad last played for India in 2024

Gaikwad was last seen in action for the India National cricket team in a T20I match against Zimbabwe National Cricket Team in the T20I match in July 2024.

Before his appearance at Buchi Babu Invitational, Gaikwad was last seen in action for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in April 2025. He was dropped from the Indian Premier League 2025 due to a elbow injury and handed over the captaincy to MS Dhoni.

Ruturaj Gikwad was able to participate in only five matches, on an average of 24.40 on an average 122 runs and a strike rate of 150.61 with two 50-plus scores.

After recovering from his injury, he traveled to a team for England for matches against Lions of England, but did not get a chance to play the match.

He signed an agreement with the Yorkshire County Cricket Club for the five county championship matches as well as the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

However, a few days before his tenure, he pulled out of his deal with Yorkshire County Cricket Club due to ‘personal reasons’.
