Hasini Perera’s 85 runs took Sri Lanka to a competitive score
Earlier in the competition, Sri Lanka scored 202 runs in 48.4 oversThanks to a brilliant innings from Hasini Perera, who scored 85 runs in 99 balls. After the initial setbacks, she took over the innings and made a crucial 74-run partnership with Neelakshika Silva (37) to stabilize Sri Lanka’s middle-order.
Captain Athapaththu contributed 46 runs, while Bangladesh’s bowlers held the position throughout. Shoran Akhtar (3/27) and Rabeya Khan (2/39) impressed with their disciplined spells to prevent Sri Lanka from scoring big.

Chasing 203, Bangladesh looked to be in control for most of their innings. Sharmin Akhtar (64) and Nigar Sultana (77) chased brilliantly to take the team from 44/3 to a strong position of 126/3. With only 27 runs required from five overs, Bangladesh’s victory seemed certain – until disaster struck in the final over.
