CSK fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed, who was slowly returning to good form, has been ruled out of the team due to a quadriceps injury.
Khaleel, who was in some great form in IPL 2026 despite CSK’s early struggles with the ball, has been ruled out after experiencing discomfort during the match against Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. He has not only been sidelined but has also been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Khalil’s injury came at a time when the Super Kings were aiming to stabilize their campaign after a poor start. CSK managed to get two wins in their last two matches, and even the poor bowling attack looks to be back in form.
3 players who can be selected as Khaleel Ahmed’s replacement for CSK
Chetan Sakariya
As CSK will be looking for a similar replacement within the eleven, they will already have the option of well-known left-arm fast bowler Mukul Chaudhary, who has previously represented CSK in the IPL. However, they will also need a backup for the remainder of the long season.
The left-arm fast bowler, who started his career with a stellar performance with Delhi Capitals in the IPL, struggled due to injuries but has had a good run in domestic cricket. He took 12 wickets in 7 matches, but went unsold in the IPL mini-auction.
Sakariya is considered to be of similar ability to fast bowler Khalil, who can swing the new ball and also bowl some smart types of fast balls to deceive the batsman, making him a strong candidate for the role.
Simarjit Singh
Simarjeet Singh is a familiar face in that dugout, as he has been a part of the franchise during last season and was one of the players released ahead of the mini-auction. However, the fast bowler remained unsold in the mini auction.
His name came up later when he was seen on trial at the KKR nets to replace Harshit Rana in the season. However, Navdeep Saini was ultimately selected, and he is still available to be selected by the Super Kings.
He has been noticed for his remarkable pace and prior experience with the franchise. Although he is originally from the northern part of India, he is well aware of the conditions at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Akash Madhwal
The name that has been in the news the most in recent times with Mumbai Indians after 2023 is that of fast bowler Akash Madhwal. The right-arm fast bowler has had a key role with the Indians and was seen after impressive figures of 5/5 in the 2023 Eliminator.
Madhwal was sidelined in this mini-auction and remained unsold after his poor performance with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024, where he bowled at a terrible economy of 11.07 in the entire season. Madhwal is the frontrunner to replace him.
Known for his lethal pace and ability to control the innings with slower balls and nail yorkers in the death overs, he will be an ideal replacement for Khaleel Ahmed in the Chennai Super Kings dugout.
