A disturbing news has come amid the ongoing IPL 2026 season. A 19-year-old college student and aspiring cricketer named Angel Gangwani committed suicide in Puducherry. Police are currently investigating the matter as to why he decided to commit suicide.
According to the report of Times of India, Kashmir Kumar’s daughter is Angel Gangwani. Kumar, who is the GST superintendent, has been living in Chennai for the last 12 years. Angel was a second year BBA student at a private college in Velrampet, with dreams of becoming a professional cricketer. She lived in a rented room in Puducherry. The owner of the house also commented on the shocking death of the teenager.
Angel Gangwani was an aspiring cricketer
It is reported that Angel Gangwani was an aspiring cricketer and to pursue further in the game, she went for the selection trials for Puducherry T20 cricket team held in Thutipet. He received training at a coaching center in Thilaspet. He was not selected after the trials. Now it is believed that he committed suicide due to depression.
According to TOI report, “Angel was an aspiring cricketer who had trained at a coaching center in Thilaspet. She had recently participated in the selection trials for the Puducherry T20 cricket team held in Thilaspet. Her name was not included in the final list of selected players. After this disappointment, she reportedly became dejected and withdrew, said P Durairaj, 54, her house owner.
Cricket coach first tried to contact on phone
The owner of the house further claimed that Angel Gangwani returned home around 8 pm on Wednesday night after practice. Later, his cricket coach tried to contact him via phone, but he reportedly did not respond.
It is also reported that his coach Kathirvel visited his place and found his student hanging from the ceiling fan. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Kathirkamam, but by then the doctors had nothing to do but declare him dead.
The report further claims, “Duraraj said in his complaint that Angel returned to her room around 8 pm on Wednesday night after cricket practice. When her coach Kathirvel tried to contact her on phone that night, she did not respond.”
It said, “Upon suspicion, Kathirvel visited her residence and found Angel hanging from the ceiling fan in her room. He said he and his coach took her to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kathirkamam, where doctors declared her brought dead.”
The truth about the cricketer is yet to be revealed
Despite all the claims and possibilities that something could have gone wrong with her, the police are yet to find out the real reason behind this heartbreaking incident. At present no official statement has come from the police. D Nagar police have registered the case and are investigating. Cricket fans will be eagerly waiting to know further information about this incident.
