BCCI will give a big reward to the Indian women’s team if they win the World Cup final.

The Indian women’s cricket team is on the cusp of a historic World Cup win and is just one step away from registering their names in the record books. The South African team has reached the final of the competition for the first time.

South African women had reached the final of the last T20 World Cup, in which they lost to New Zealand, while in the Men’s T20 World Cup they also lost to the Indian team. The men’s team has yet to reach a World Cup final, while the women’s team advanced to it with a win against England.

The BCCI has confirmed a total reward of Rs 125 crore to the players and support staff for their performances.

BCCI had given a reward to the Indian women’s team which was runner-up in 2017.

The Indian women’s team has reached the finals of the Women’s World Cup twice in 2005 and 2017. His best performance both times was as runner-up. In 2017, when India reached the final under former captain Mithali Raj, they lost to England by just 9 runs at Lord’s.

BCCI then gave good rewards to women cricketers, each player was given Rs 50 lakh. The head coach and support staff were also rewarded with huge sums of money.

Eight years have passed, and the women’s team has qualified for the third such final, this time in home conditions, and are favorites to win the title. The prize money for each cricketer can be increased by more than 10 times.

BCCI is following ‘equal pay’ policy for women’s cricket

BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, during his tenure, had announced Rs 125 crore for their performance in the Men’s ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after they defeated South Africa in the final.

“The BCCI supports equal pay for men and women, and hence there is a lot of discussion that if our girls win the World Cup, the reward will be nothing less than the men’s global win. But it is not good to make any announcement before winning the Cup,” a BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

It may be noted that the BCCI is following the ‘equal pay’ policy advocated by former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, as it was also provided to the then Rohit Sharma-led team.
